Crack repair and joint work

Cracks tell you something. A hairline shrinkage crack is cosmetic, a wide crack with a lip means the base moved or the slab settled, and a crack that keeps opening means something underneath is still moving. We look at width, displacement, and pattern before recommending anything. Repairs range from routing and filling with a flexible sealant to full section replacement where the concrete has failed. Control joints and expansion joints get cleaned and resealed so water stops running down into the base.

Resurfacing worn concrete

Surface damage from de-icer, freeze and thaw, or a bad original finish can often be corrected with a resurfacer or overlay bonded to the existing slab. That gives you a fresh wear surface, and it can carry a broom, textured, or decorative finish at the same time. The one requirement is that the slab underneath is sound. If it is spalling because the base failed, an overlay is just a cover, and we will say so rather than take the job.

Sealing and protection

Sealer is the cheapest insurance concrete gets. It slows water absorption, which is what drives freeze and thaw damage, and it keeps oil, de-icer, and stains from soaking in. Penetrating sealers keep the look natural and give strong protection against salt and moisture. Film forming sealers give a wet or glossy look and pop the color on decorative surfaces. Both need a clean, dry slab and the right weather window, and we schedule accordingly.
